Chris Kosman writes about MLM in his blog MLM SPOT. A site dedicated to every Network Marketer seeking the right knowledge to build his business.

Are you in MLM or direct sales and frustrated with how slowly your business grow? Do you get angry for not having the desired success in network marketing and are you constantly searching to find what to blame for not making the money you want from your marketing efforts?

Well, you don’t need to search any further. It is yourself that got you into that position and if you want to improve your position and the results you get you have to stop whining, or try to find someone to blame for your failure. It is not the company’s management, or product, nor the whole multi level marketing industry, or your prospects that hold you back from success.

The way your MLM home business progress is a result of the time and effort you put into it in order to make it work. If you neglect your responsibilities no one else is going to recruit or make the sales for you. There is no secret for getting your favorable outcome from your network marketing program. You just need more advertising and prospecting.

Provided that you have the basic training for promoting, all you need is to scale up your efforts after you first examine the current results you are getting from marketing your business and cut the “fat”. That’s right, roughly only a 20% of your actions are responsible for the 80% of your results as the Pareto principle states. If you want to stop being an MLM failure you have to identify what is working best and do more of it.

Whether you are relying on Google advertising, blogging, affiliate prospecting systems, or web 2.0 online tactics for promoting your multilevel marketing opportunity, you have to examine and analyze the effect they have on your business. Once you know it concentrate and start working harder and more hours on doing the one single thing that gives you the best results.

But in order to move to that direction you have first to get rid of the attitude of trying to find a scape goat for not having the MLM success that you are dreaming. You need to turn to an action oriented person that accepts his mistakes, learn from them, and go out and do it right this time.

This Guest spot brought to you by Chris Kosman.

The route to your MLM Success passes from our blog. Training and knowledge that can help your multilevel marketing home business reach the next level.

I am not going to lie to you. White Hat SEO is harder than Black Hat SEO. Period. But while a black hat technique might get you ranked really quickly for a popular keyword, it can just as easily get your site banned by Google.

Maybe not today. Maybe not this year. But it will happen.

And if you are depending on those organic visitors to bring in your revenue, what happens to you if those visitors disappear overnight? It happened to one site run by Brad Fallon. No, his site wasn’t into black hat techniques, but a change at Google on the search methods caused his site to fall off the organic listings overnight. Although Google brought his sites back after a while, the lesson Brad learned that dreadful day have stayed with him, as you can imagine.

Build solid. Build consistently. Build right.

Don’t be tempted into the black hat camp for quick returns when you have no idea what the costs associated are. For example, don’t be tempted to stuff keywords in a font color that matches your background so visitors don’t see it by the search engine spiders do. That’s black hat.

Black Hat search engine optimization is customarily defined as techniques that are used to get higher search rankings in an unethical manner. These black hat SEO techniques usually include one or more of the following characteristics:

  • Breaks search engine rules and regulations
  • Creates a poor user experience directly because of the black hat SEO techniques utilized on the Web site
  • Unethically presents content in a different visual or non-visual way to search engine spiders and search engine users.

You achieve SEO rankings and organic traffic because you put in the work to analyze the competitive landscape, do thorough keyword research, write effective, usable, SEO friendly web copy. You get good results when you have the correct structure to your small business blog, with proper internal linking and categorization of content. Natural listings happen with you find the right sites to get backlinks from. These are the powerful steps necessary to achieve authority with the search engines.

Black Hat SEO Techniques To Avoid

I list these techniques not to teach you black hat SEO, but to show you what to avoid at all costs.

  • Keyword stuffing: Packing long lists of keywords and nothing else onto your site will get you penalized eventually by search engines.
  • Invisible text: This is putting lists of keywords in white text on a white background in hopes of attracting more search engine spiders. Again, not a good way to attract searchers or search engine crawlers.
  • Doorway Pages: A doorway page is basically a “fake” page that the user will never see. It is purely for search engine spiders, and attempts to trick them into indexing the site higher.

Black Hat SEO can be tempting. After all, these tricks actually do work, temporarily. They do end up getting sites higher search rankings, that is, until these same sites get banned for using unethical practices.

It’s just not worth the risk. Use efficient search engine optimization techniques to get your site ranked higher, and stay away from anything that even looks like Black Hat SEO.

You have probably heard the term (more than once) during the course of your online education, but if you haven’t grasped the complete concept, let me help you out.

First, a definition to get us on the same page:

A *Mastermind* is peer group of people like you for shared ideas, accountability and opportunity discussion to improve your personal and/or company success.

If the value isn’t readily apparent to you, then read that definition again. In fact, read it a few more times.

I belong to a couple of good mastermind groups in my chosen *genre* of Internet/Affiliate/Network Marketing, and I can tell you with no hesitation that the *hour(s)* spent with each group are some of the best hours of the work week.

When a group of like minded folks get together and start talking about what’s working for them, or what to avoid, you have an opportunity to supercharge the time you do spend doing something, or even more important, what NOT to spend your time on.

I won’t go into some of the troubles of building the right mastermind group, those should be obvious, but I will tell you it is worth the effort . Keep your ears open to the people you come in contact with… and ask yourself, could this person add something to the group? Watch their activities and actions, listen to what they say and how they say it. If you think it might be a good fit, ask them.

In addition to reducing your *learning curve* or knowing what to avoid, is another benefit that was recently made very obvious to me. You see, one of the members of a group I belong to ran into a little trouble , personal trouble. The mastermind group did something amazing. They pooled their resources, talents, PLR, techniques and time to help her out.

The result was nothing less than mind-blowing.

In just a few short day’s… these people, by pooling time, tasks and talents, where able to put together a website and an amazing *package* for sale, with all the proceeds going towards the one in need. Now, it might not be enough given the gravity of her situation (you can read more about that here ), but watching a group of people from all over the US come together like this has been inspiring, to say the least.

It also points to another benefit of masterminding. Being able to help someone because they deserve it. No one deserves what happened to her and her family, but seeing the mastermind group come together like this has gone a long way in restoring my flagging faith in the inherent kindness of mankind.

I hope that you got something out of this overview of a mastermind, but I also hope you will take 5 minutes to head over to the MakeLemonade.info site and see what we have put together for you. The cost is small, the benefits are enormous, both to you and the one that needs it.

I would love for you to come back here and leave some feedback for those that come after you. We could all use a little help now and then.

Do you ever feel like if you learn/see/hear one more thing, you brain will start leaking out of your ears? Welcome to Information Overload .

I feel your pain.

I keep hearing from all the trainers, coaches and guru’s that it’s simple . And they each list “everything” you should do to be successful.

And guess what? Their lists don’t match!

Each trainer/coach/guru lists 5-9 things you MUST do to be successful online. How do you know which is really the one that you need to do?

Well, frankly, it’s gonna depend on you. I know that wasn’t what you wanted to hear, but dang-it, it’s the truth and I promised you truth above all, right from the beginning. It’s going to depend on your goals, the results you are expecting and the method you choose to give you those results.

But I digress. We are talking about how to avoid information overload.

It’s a matter of mindset, discipline and habits. When you are first starting out with a new “prospecting” method like using the Internet, you need to do some research, explore your options and then pick one .

Notice I didn’t say buy every book or product out there to teach yourself, nor did I say read only one . You do need an overview of what’s possible. And you need to know who is doing it successfully. But in the end, you need to choose one thing and then master it. Test it. Track it. Apply it. Study it. Don’t move onto the next “method” or “process”, until you have the first one “down pat”.

Trust me, I know it will be tempting to spend all your time researching, buying books that promise you 3 simple steps to financial freedom or listening to training calls from marketing guru’s morning, noon and night. But do you know why it will be tempting? Because if you are still researching and studying, you aren’t doing .

If you aren’t doing, you aren’t failing. Can you say “comfort zone”?

Listen, the number ONE reason you will succeed in this (or any) business, isn’t the marketing method, or the capture page, or the autoresponder (although these are all important pieces of the puzzle). No, the number one reason you will succeed, is because you took action. Massive action. Focused action. And you can’t do that if you are still chasing the hype.

There are thousands, no – tens of thousands of people on the Internet today, all hawking their “get rich quick” products, books and training courses. Each one promises you that you can quit your day job, fire your boss and retire in 1 year.

Tell me . . . in your heart . . . do you really think that is possible?

Nope, me either.

Success requires work. Anyone who tells you they have a system you just have to join to be massively wealthy overnight is flat out lying to you. But, I digress again. Sorry for the rant.

To Avoid Information Overload

1. (Focus ) Train yourself to look at one thing at a time. For example, if you are building a list using free traffic techniques, focus on that. All your efforts should be on that one thing until you can do it in your sleep.

2. (Consistency ) Train yourself to be consistent. You can’t succeed doing something only when you have extra time , or when everything else “pressing” is done. Allocate [X] minutes/hours per day for that task, and do it. No matter what.

Not doing it is only hurting you.

Don’t let obligations to others short-change you . If you are spending all your time doing something for someone else, who is growing your business? Short Answer? No one .

3. (Action ) Train yourself to be action oriented. If you are lying awake at night and an idea about how to do (better) what you are trying to do flitters across your brain, do it. The very next day. Take action. Even if it’s wrong action, it’s still got value to you, especially if you are tracking and testing like you should be. It is teaching you what doesn’t work .

You should have noticed that all three things I listed involved the word “Train “. That’s not an accident. You control your success or failure. No one else. Do you want it? Then train for it.

Alright, this post turned into a kind of a rant, and I am sorry about that. I just get so frustrated when I start mentoring someone and they come to the “table” with 43 eBooks, 14 DVD’s and 29 CD’s but not one single “action” under their belts.

I blame it on Information Overload.
